Description: The date of this pastel is quite clear: 1889. I have examined all sides and every inch of this painting. The painting condition is excellent. As stated in the condition's section, I applied several coats of a fixative to the painting to protect it from sun bleaching or fading. Pastel's can also loose color if a fixative is not used. In 1889 no such product was available. It is quite remarkable that the condition is so very clean and pristine. It is quite clear that the heavy bond paper the pastel was painted upon is very consistent with art paper of that period (much like the heavy bond watercolor paper of today. I did purchase the frame that the painting is in. I believe it to be an excellent compliment to this painting. The original matting was painted the charcoal black you see in the photos. For purposes of shipping safety, I have installed a acrylic art glass (plexiglass) front to protect this painting throughout shipping and for the next many decades. Plexiglass is nearly shatterproof and I have never had a painting damaged in shipping when plexiglass has been used. I will package this painting with great care for shipping. At this time I am shipping throughout the lower 48 states. Shipping by: USPS., UPS., or FedEx., depending upon the delivery address.
