Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 1896 Morris Bird Nests Egg Antique Book Cover Vol 1 Cloth Binding Gilt 15 Prints Good condition for binding that is over 128 years old, well attached and strong, with a a decorated gilt spine in good condition and still tight with green cloth boards decorated with a beautiful gilt nest and egg image. The interior has 4 green end papers 2 in the front and 2 in the back, still attached and there is an ex libris sticker on front end paper as shown. A partial title, full introduction and index is present. The corners are bent with a few scuff marks and the cloth boards and end papers are in good condition with a few marks only. Included are 15 prints original to the work, in good condition on creamy paper with bright coloring from the much prized edition which included the name of the bird below the image. All prints except one have the the original text and there is also additional text. This is an incomplete set with pages detached but original to the volume and overall very good. It is a special part of our history and could be used for rebinding. Though it is by no means complete, still a historic work awaiting a new future! It measures about 16 1/2 inches long by 10 1/2 inches tall and the spine about 2 1/2 inches wide by 10 1/2 inches tall. Most common is paper darkening, or toning, resulting in the paper becoming shades darker, from off white to light brown. We rarely offer very toned prints, unless the issue is particularly scarce. 2. Text offset occurs over time, when the text page is against the image and ink from the text makes lines on the image. Conversely, image offset occurs when the hand coloring transfers slightly to the text. Again, we rarely offer heavily offset prints. 3. Spotted or foxing is also common due to age and handling over a long period of time and while a small degree of foxing is common and acceptable, we avoid extensively foxed prints. 4. Book covers may have chips, stains, corner imperfections or spine damage and color lightening or changes. SHIPPING Shipping is standard and we pack the bindings, prints and books flat and well protected in foam core or cardboard. If the prints are very large we very carefully roll them with several protective layers into a strong tube. They roll out flat very quickly. This Book Cover is large and heavy at over 2 lbs and will be shipped flat at media rate and cannot be combined. PAYMENT This book cannot be combined due to size.
