This is the 12th May 1999 one pound sterling issued by The Royal Bank of Scotland plc in commemoration of the first meeting of the Scottish Parliament. The note which is clean and crisp has a green and dark green design over multicolor underprint. The note depicts the image of Lord Ilay (First Governor) at right on the front. It also has a brown colored underprint of the Scottish Parliament in the center as well as the silhouette of the building in purple in the bottom left corner under the words "Commemorating the First Meeting of the ACOTTISH PARLIAMENT". The back is light green over multi-colored under print with the image of the parliament building to the left and an abstract colorful design in the center. It is said that the central design fluoresces yellow when exposed to UV light. The note is signed by the Group Chief Executive and displays his signature on the front. The front also displays the date and the serial number. This particular note has the serial number 0238927 and it is series SP (Scottish Parliament). The banknote has a watermark which can be found to the left of the front and it depicts the image of Lord Ilay facing to the front.
