PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Uniquely in ADAM Audio’s AX Series, the A8X may be used as both a nearfield and midfield monitor thanks to its power and radiation characteristics. The A8X features the company’s X-ART tweeter and an 8.5-inch woofer, which together deliver deep yet tight low frequency reproduction with transparent highs, clear mids and excellent transient response. IT’S A NEARFIELD — AND A MIDFIELD — MONITOR Like all AX Series speakers, ADAM Audio’s A8X features a X-ART (eXtended Accelerating Ribbon Technology) tweeter, which results in a dramatic improvement in the audio reproduction quality. Handmade in Germany to precise tolerances, the pleated membrane can move the air four times faster than the diaphragms of conventional piston-like tweeters, delivering transparent highs without distortion, minimizing listener fatigue and allowing you to work more accurately for longer periods of time. The carbon/Rohacell/glass fiber bass/midrange woofer, which ADAM Audio refers to as a midwoofer, features a 1.5-inch voice coil that, in combination with the perfectly matched extra-large dual bass reflex ports on the cabinet’s front baffle, deliver punch with precision, and powerful low frequency extension. A 150W PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) amplifier drives the midwoofer in combination with 50W Class A/B amp for the tweeter, together generating an impressive SPL of 120 dB per pair at one meter. PWM, also known as Class D amplification, offers extremely high efficiency with a significant reduction in heat compared to previous designs. REAR PANEL CONTROLS & CONNECTIONS Rear panel controls include ± 4dB gain for the high frequencies together with high- and low-frequency shelf filters.
