Description: Fresh to the market from a Connecticut estate Antique 1870s summer traveling dress with fringe Antique circa 1870s traveling dress made of plaid silk/cotton fabric in chocolate brown with black and white and trimmed with fringe. It has a bustle skirt with a large pocket on the left side, long sleeves with rounded elbows and dropped shoulders; fine piping at the waist and on top of sleeves. The bodice is fully lined in brown cotton; the bottom of the skirt (11 inches) is lined with polished brown cotton. Closes in front with eye and hooks and it has the daintiest inserted pocket. Fully hand sewn initially; at a later time it was enlarged on the sides and machine sewn.
