Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Ed Burak Connoisseur NYC Billiard/ Flame Grain/ Featherweight/ Handmade, U.S.A./ MINT In 1968 Ed Burak purchased The Connoisseur Pipe Shop, where he was able to concentrate on his own designs. Burak's pipes have been carved by a number of well-regarded pipe makers, among them Joe Corteggione and Tony Passante. Several of his free hands are so exquisite that they are in the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Unquestionably, Ed Burak is the dean of American pipe designers whose work has had a worldwide influence on the thinking and the work of contemporary pipe makers. In mint condition, here is an elegant, featherweight Billiard shaped pipe of Burak design, with lots of birds-eye end grain in the heel and shank. This, of course translates to a sweeter and drier smoking pipe. Draft hole is center and above the bottom of the chamber. There is a wide open, effortless draw. Tenon to mortise union is sound, snug and flush. Vulcanite stem is a crisp jet black, bearing no marks. Due to the desirable graining, pipe weighs only a mere 1. 16 ounces (32.9 grams) No fills. No handling marks. Pipe passes a cleaner with ease.
