Document signed in ink “George R”. 1p., bifolium, 8.0 x 12.25 inch, Saint James, London, 1771 November 1, with a fine intact red wax seal. In German, to field marshal August Friedrich von Spörcken (1698-1776) regarding “a service regulation to be established for all of our troops”. Mailing folds, handling wear, else good condition. The document was opened without breaking the red wax seal, so a small part at the bottom of the address sheet is not torn out, but is attached to the seal at the top edge. Johann Friedrich Karl von Alvensleben was a British Hanoverian minister. In 1771 (the year of this document) King George III. appointed him as "Head of the German Chancellery" (Minister for Hanoverian Affairs) to London. He worked there until the end of his life. August Friedrich von Spörcken was a Hanoverian field marshal best known for his service in the Seven Years' War. He served as part of the Army of Observation between 1757-1762 leading the Hanoverian contingent at a number of major battles including Krefeld and Minden. Rare and the first George III. document I have for sale dated before the American Declaration of Independence. COMES WITH A CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY BY ANDREAS WIEMER HISTORICAL AUTOGRAPHS.
