The bow may have been repaired at one time but you have to look close to see.Les David Bio:Hopi Pueblo artist Les David was known for fine detail and superior representations of Hopi Katsinam-a fact he has absolutely showcased with his Kachina Doll carvings.Leslie David is the father of famous carver Kerry David and was married to Nora David. They lived between Polacca and Keams Canyon on the Hopi Pueblo Reservation in the northern part of Arizona. He was a Hopi of the Deer Clan, which is why he signs his dolls with his name and deer tracks. Les was an active carver from the 1950's to the 1990's and that is why his dolls are so rare. He was participant in " The Katsinas are Coming" exhibit at Gallary Capistrano in San Juan Capistrano, California in 1989 and in the "Following the Sun and Moon- Hopi Katsna Dolls" exhibit at Heard Museum in Phoenix, Arizona in 1995 and "Arts of the Hopi People" at the Indian Craft Shop in Washington D.C. in 2004.Les is a great loss to Kachina lovers and that's why this doll is so special to a Kachina buyer! There is a white buffalo doll by Les in the Adobe Gallery listed for $3000 that is 1 inch taller than this doll.Look very close at all the pictures and enjoy. Thanks for looking,Vince and Cindy
