His parents separated when he was seven years old. He attended several internships, including the École des Roches in Verneuil-sur-Avre .Against his will his father sent him, for studying agriculture to Saint-Sever and La Réole . At age 16, he returned to Paris and did occasional work avoiding agriculture. In 1909, he left France and moved briefly to London , where he found it difficult to find a job.Bronze box in the shape of a book with relief representing a ship with sails and oars, made by Mas Le VerrirerLe Verrier worked in a flight school in Rendon, where he got his pilot's license, in 1913. He participated in the First World War as of February 1915, in a bomber squadron. On December 25, he was shot down by a German fighter and reported missing. He was awarded the Croix de Guerre Medal 1914-1918 . During his captivity in Münster he began to work modeling in clay and carving. Le Verrier made friends with other artists of the camp, and portrayed some of his companions. In 1917 he was interned as part of an exchange of prisoners in Switzerland . At the École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva, studied with Marcel Bouraine and Pierre Le Faguays, who remained friends for life and, often, worked together. After the War he returned to Paris, where he married Jeanne Hubrecht in 1921, had two children. In the 1920s, he inherited a small foundry in which he soon made small sculptures and decorative objects, such as lamps, ashtrays, bookends and ornaments for automobiles in the Art Deco style . In addition to his own sculptures he produced sculptures by Pierre Le Faguay, Marcel Bouraine, André Vincent Becquerel and Jules Masson. He worked mainly with bronze, ivory, zinc, terracotta and ceramics. Le Verrier, exhibited his work in the halls of the Société des artistes décorateurs, in which he was an elected member. At the 1925 International Exhibition of Decorative and Modern Industrial Arts he won a Gold Medal. He also exhibited in theInternational Exhibition Paris of 1937 . During the period of Art Deco its women sculptures stand out, like its Clarte , known for its flexible athletic body in perfect symmetry. He also made sculptures of animals such as pelicans, storks, squirrels, chimpanzees, horses, lions or panthers .During the Second World War , the house of Le Verrier served as a mailbox for the Resistance . He was held for four days in warehouses by the militia of the Vichy regime , collaborating with the German National Socialist Reich and handed over to the German occupiers, who finally freed him. A few days later, the militia returned, but Le Verrier was able to escape through a hidden door. With false documents, he first sought refuge with a friend in Paris, then moved to his home in the department of Gers in southern France, where his wife and children were already waiting for him.In September 1944, Le Verrier returned to Paris, where he found his apartment and workshop ransacked. At the end of the war, he was able to reopen his workshop. In addition to a series of small animal sculptures with birds, rhinos, donkeys, goats, bears and sea lions, as well as the sculptural group Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, Le Verrier made everyday items such as ashtrays, office supplies or souvenirs. He worked in his Parisian studio until his death in 1973. Max Le Verrier was buried in the Fontenay-lès-Briis cemetery near his friend Pierre Le Faguays.
