Description: St.KILLIAN Germany “Oscar Schleglemilch” ( circa 1904s) GREEN BOUCHER Portrait Plate,10 1/8”. Antique collector's plate marked OS St. Kilian Germany. It was made by the Oscar Schlegelmilch factory, part of the RS Prussia family of porcelain makers. This large plate packs a lot of punch as far as design goes: the center is a mythological scene of a warrior wooing a woman (the goddess Venus) surrounded by Cupid-like cherubs. T is a signature, "F. Boucher," at the bottom of the scene but the scene appears to be a transfer printing of a painting by the famous painter Boucher, with handpainted details. The scene is surrounded by a lavishly decorated flange, which has a sea green lusterware finish and gold stenciling and handpainting both. In short, this plate is a beauty! It measures 10 1/8”in diameter and is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. The mark on the back of the plate reads, "OL 3 St. Kilian Germany" with a bunch of other handwritten numbers that I assume relate to the artist who was doing the handpainting. From what I have learned, this plate dates to around 1900-1905s which is about the same time period as the other portrait plates I am listing as well. This is a great piece to add to your antique portrait plate collection! Thanks for looking. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
