Description: An SGC graded EXMT 6 - 1941 Double Play card featuring Frank Crosetti and John Sturm of the New York Yankees. The 1941 Double Play set was issued by Gum Products, INC. of Cambridge, MA and was released in two series. Each card features two black and white photos of different players and the cards have blank backs. Each card has two numbers (one for each photo) and as a result, sometimes the cards are found cut in half. One of only a few baseball card sets released during World War II, this set features many Hall of Famers early in their careers such as Bob Feller, Ted Williams and Joe DiMaggio. The set also includes the first cards of several Hall of Fame players like Johnny Mize, Enos Slaughter, Phil Rizzuto, Joe Gordon and Pee Wee Reese (who also appears in the 1941 Play Ball set) that are considered by many collectors to be rookie cards. Other baseball greats are highlighted in the set as well, including Hank Greenberg, Jimmie Foxx, Mel Ott, Carl Hubbell, Bill Dickey, Lefty Grove and more. This example has no creasing, bold printing, nice focus, excellent centering and clean borders. The corners are consistent with those found on most EXMT/EXMT+ examples. The back is clean.
