The cover still has its coloring but it is quite worn as shown, it has been covered in plastic for years though. The textblock, endpapers front/back, & some of the pages have discoloration browning to them. There is a moisture stain on the top outer edge of the last 20 pages but it in no way compromises any of the text & actually looks like browning. The pages, as far as their coloring are concerned, are in acceptable condition with many variants to the browning but ALL the text, illustrations, & anything to view is all in good condition & has not been compromised. In all this 1st edition book will still hold value to a Tolkien lover~enthusiast & will be a welcome part of their collection.
