Description: Vietnam Era USMC Marine Corps Canvas M1941 Haversack or Upper Combat Pack - Original - NICE Condition Up for sale is a Vietnam Era US Marine Corps USMC Canvas M1941 Knapsack or Lower Combat Pack, also known as the Marching Pack. This pack is used and in Nice condition, please see photos. No rips or tears, several minor fray spots. The bed roll strap on the top of the flap is no longer present. The center belt strap on the rear has a broken hook, see photo. The other other straps and fasteners are present and fully functional. All seams are fully intact. Normal color fading. There are no visible markings or dates on the pack. Please see photos for condition. This pack has that used, salty look that collector like. The Marine Corps M1941 pack evolved from an experimental model developed during 1940 by a board of NCO's from the 5th Marines and consisted of a haversack, knapsack, blanket roll and a pair of suspenders. These components could be assembled in numerous configurations, including:Light Marching Pack: Haversack onlyMarching Pack: Haversack and SuspendersField Marching Pack: Marching Pack plus short Blanket RollTransport Pack: Marching Pack plus KnapsackField Transport Pack: Transport Pack plus long Blanket Roll The 1941 USMC haversack design featured a roll-top rather than the original standard flap and was produced into the late 1960's. It had a blanket roll strap on the top, a side bayonet attachment and a cartridge belt supporting strap at the bottom. The haversack also had a pair of eyelets on the top flap that were designed for attaching an intrenching tool cover.
