Description: This is an absolutely lovely Victorian pattern - first offered in 1891 - that continued into the Edwardian era of 1914. The official title is "Flow Blue Shanghai" produced by the W. H. Grindley factories in the picturesque named city of Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent in England. As stated above this pattern was produced from 1891 until 1914, making it at the very least, 110 years old. We will be offering multiple place settings in this listing. We begin with the dinner plate. As with all pieces, except the cup, it has a subdued scene of a large tree and other bushes on the banks of a stream. Buildings can be seen on either side of the water. Around the edge of the plate are various scenes of buildings and bouquets of flowers. On the back edge of the plate is the Shanghai seal which shows wreath encircling a barrel or jug with Shanghai written above Trademark with to the sides and a letter or letter and number above. This letter or number (D} on the plate (K1) on the bowl, indicates the production lines they came from. Description of the items: The plate is 8 3/4 inches wide and stands 3/4 inch high at the rim. The bread plate measures 6 7/8 inches across and the rim is 1/2 inch high. The saucer is 5 3/4 inches across and the rim is 1/2 inch high. The fruit/dessert bowl is 5 1/8 inches across, 1 inch high at the rim and 3/4 inch deep. The coffee cup is 3 1/2 inches across the rim,4 1/2 inches from handle to rim, 2 inches tall and 1 3/4 inches across the base. It is beautiful and a totally mesmerizing set.
