Description: Hello and welcome to the House of Chrome. You are looking at one of Shure Brothers most unique, rugged and affordable model mics to come out of the 1950's era. This is the 710A "Rex" model crystal microphone with an all metal painted body, lower adapter and stand in which to display. Pic # 2 is from an old Shure data sheet showing this very mic and it's basic characteristics. This microphone that was manufactured in Chicago, ILL sometime between the late 1940's and eventually was discontinued in the early to mid 1960's. The Shure 710A came with the omni-directional crystal element while the 510 model came with a controlled magnetic element. These crystal models didn't hold up well with age as the crystal element was prone to degrading from heat, cold humidity and vibration. This example has been tested and no longer works. It should be used for display, prop or display purposes only. Again, tested and non-working. The Shure 710A was used for general broadcasting and dispatching purposes. The finish shows very typical wear as seen in the pictures provided and about average in looks for a mic of this age. There are no engravings, dents or fractures but you'll notice there are scuff marks, scratches and small paint chips in the original burgundy finish. The original gold colored screen is free of any rips, holes or stains. The Shure label and insignia look excellent. The mic comes with the lower adapter that allows you to screw this mic onto any stand you have though one is provided already. There is a short 6 inch cable with period male 1/4 inch end connector. This Shure 710A mic is an easy 6 on a scale of 1 - 10. MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE... The stand is actually a newer Chinese model. It's an all metal cast iron design with flat black paint that looks like the famous Atlas DS-5 model and compliments the mic nicely. The stand has typical lite wear. The stand itself is appx 6 1/2 inches tall X 6 inches wide. There's enough weight in the stand to keep the mic from falling over. Very stable platform. The original black paint looks very good and there is no corrosion. There is a bit wear on the chrome riser in the form of chrome loss. All 3 rubber pads are still present and work just as they should. Total height with mic and stand is 10 1/4 inches tall. As with all my vintage microphones... I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS are welcome as well. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened and item re-listed. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping. If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
